Frequently Asked Questions Do I have to be a member of your church to register my kids? Nope... absolutely not! We would love to have your family be a part of Upward Sports. How much does it cost? We do our best to keep the cost down (usually less than other leagues). The cost varies from sport to sport depending on the package each kid will receive. Most of the time it should be no more than $75 (or 2-3 dinners out with the family!) Package? What package? In our league, each kid gets a package full of stuff (not just a t-shirt)! Team uniform, a CD, magnets and more! Also, each kid gets a year-end award. Your kid will love it! Where does the money go? Most of it goes toward the package for your child. The Upward Sports Ministry develops this package each year and that is where a majority of your league fee will go (about 80%), the rest is used to pay for equipment, gym rentals and other league costs that we incur. Are scholarships available? We do our best to offer scholarships to families in need every year. It is done on a case by case basis and you'll need to speak with Brett Cadwell. We do not offer a discount for multiple children in the home because the package is the same cost to us. What are the "S.T.A.R.S." all about? At the end of every game, your child will receive a star to place on his uniform. The stars are different colors and each color has a significant meaning. Your coach will recognize each player at the end of the games and award them with stars. There are also stars that the kids will get at the end of each practice for working on Bible memory. Is there an age cut off? Each sport has a specific age cut off date. - Soccer - your child must be 5 years old by March 1
- Flag Football - your child must be 5 years old by August 1
- Basketball - your child must be 5 years old by November 1
- Cheerleading - your child must be 5 years old by November 1
- Camp - your child must be 3 years old by July 1
How can I volunteer? To coach, you must be an active member of your church and go through an approval process that includes a criminal background check. Also, we are always looking for referees, game-day set-up teams, devotional speakers, concessions volunteers, etc. What is an "Awards Celebration"? The Awards Celebration, is simply a way that we celebrate the season. It usually includes some entertainment and the idea is to make it a fun filled night for the whole family. Okay... I'm sold, how do I register? We will make it easy for you! Just go to your sport specific page and print off a form and mail it in or drop it off, or stop by the church office and register.
