Disaster in Haiti

On January 12, 2010, an unimaginable tragedy struck the island nation of Haiti causing tremendous damage and loss of life. Government reports indicate that as many as 200,000 people died in the catastrophe. As members of White River Christian Church, we are praying for the survivors of those who lost family and loved ones.

The Global Expansion Team has been working to evaluate the manner in which WRCC can be most effective in assisting in these tragic circumstances. The situation is still very chaotic and plans are still unfolding for many relief efforts.

While the immediate demands are significant, we expect the needs for rebuilding and ministering will extend for many years, so we are carefully exploring our opportunities to provide help that will have the maximum impact. The Global Expansion Team will meet on February 8 to review several options and select a path that provides for short-term relief and potentially long-term assistance.

Our Global Expansion Team will provide updates via this web-site. We will also be available after worship services for questions or input.

Possible Haiti Relief Trip
Our Global Expansion Team is considering a possible relief trip to Haiti. If you are interested, please contact the Strategic Team leader, Michael Ghrist at michael.ghrist@siemens.com or Dan Crosley, Pastor of Care Giving at dcrosley@wrcc.org. We are putting together a list of potential participants whom we will keep updated.

Individual Contributions

If you would like to find out what some of God's people are doing to respond to the disaster in Haiti, we encourage you to log onto International Disaster Emergency Services (IDES) at www.ides.org . This is an organization with whom WRCC has a long history. IDES works through local missionaries already working in Haiti. 100% of funds given to IDES go directly for the intended projects.
