How will you engage the culture?
The Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:22 “I have become all things to all people that I might win some.” As an extraordinary evangelist, Paul realized that he must identify with people within their cultures. He stretched himself and expanded his comfort zone to understand the people of many different backgrounds and experiences. His purpose was simple – win people to Jesus Christ. Paul's great desire was for people to understand God's redemptive love and receive God's forgiveness. As Christians, our strategy is the same in the 21st century as that of the Apostle Paul. We travel to other cultures and work at gaining people's trust so that we can speak to them about Jesus Christ. Sometimes that means building a clinic in the jungles of Panama. In Ukraine, we use the method of a sports camp to create a relationship with children and their parents. In the Republic of Georgia, time is spent in prayer, encouragement, and training pastors. Future church leaders in Mexico receive positive feedback as we do outreaches together with them. Kenyan leaders see examples of God's unconditional love as White River members work in the midst of unimaginable suffering in the slums and are willing to even wash the feet of the diseased out in the bush country.
What Countries does White River Support?

WRCC serves alongside of Christian Missionary Fund (CMF) in supporting their Kenya outreach. This ministry works among the urban poor of Nairobi and among the Maasai people. Transformation comes through providing education, clothing, and adequate nutrition to the orphans and vulnerable children in Mathare, one of the worst slums in Africa. Among the Maasai there are eight clinics to treat tropical diseases, immunize children, and to help combat the HIV/AIDS crisis with testing, counseling, medical treatment and home-based care. Spiritual transformation comes through preaching the Gospel and planting strong congregations with Kenyan leadership.

Tavriski Christian Institute (TCI), established in the 1990's, is a conservative evangelical
seminary located in Kherson in southern Ukraine. TCI trains pastors for practical ministry in expanding God's Kingdom. Today TCI unites 102 students from five different evangelical denominations and 8 former Soviet Block nations. We believe that the Lord has intended Ukraine to become the source of well equipped ministers for the extension of His Kingdom in the former Soviet Union and other countries. TCI has an important role in that plan.

WRCC helped pave the way for the development of the TCI Georgia Extension through a preliminary investigative trip to Georgia and a subsequent trip of prayer & encouragement shortly after the Russian invasion. Pastors Timothy Brock and Dan Crosley taught one of the first courses at this new TCI Extension in early 2009. Young leaders in Georgia, along with others from neighboring Azerbaijan and Armenia have been invited to study in this extension institute. This trained leadership will be instrumental in planting strong churches.

The National Bible Institute is located in Queretero, Mexico. Fully staffed by Mexican Nationals, the Institute is a co-ed college that currently has 31 students. Students study during the week to become pastors. On the weekends they put into practice what they have learned by taking the gospel to adjacent areas. Thus, while being trained, students actively participate in hands-on efforts throughout Mexico working especially among the poorer colonies in towns and cities.

Derek & Ashley Ried are serving on the team of New Mission Systems International. Ashley (Adams) was active through high school at WRCC. In March 2008, the Rieds knew that God was indeed calling them into vocational mission work and although it broke their hearts to leave student ministry, they knew God had a plan for them to work cross-culturally. They currently live in Orlando, Florida and are working on fund raising. Derek has joined the Short Term Ministries Division and Ashley is on the HIV-Hope team. Derek & Ashley need a solid backing of prayer & financial support.
