Premarital Counseling Seminar

Sunday, March 30 - 11:00 - 4:00 in the Discovery Room Lunch will be included.

What is it? It is the bride and groom talking with a counselor/pastor prior to their wedding. The Seminar is held for several couples to attend together, allowing couples to benefit from each others experiences and questions. We like at least 6-10 couples in the class, and try to plan classes to cover the first and last 6 months of the year.

What if we feel we can’t attend the scheduled class? You will need to make arrangements for private counseling sessions, this is more costly and time consuming. It is to your advantage to arrange your schedule to attend the group class.

Contact the wedding coordinator or the administrative assistant in the counseling center.

 Marriage Mentoring

Marriage Mentoring is a purposefully established relationship between a mentor couple and a couple who recognizes that they could benefit from this type of relationship.

Marriage Mentoring is not counseling. Mentoring is eatablishing a dialogue with another couple who is beyond you in years or experience.

Mentoring is not a class or an educational expeienc. Learning will occur but it will be in the context of mutual, confidential sharing. You will not be judged or criticized. You will be encouraged to continue to do what is working well in your marriage and to search for solutions to difficult patterns that may have become destructive. You will be respected. Your value as a person created in the image of God will be affirmed.

Mentors do not have perfect marriages. However, they have been through enough years of marriage and diverse experiences to know that marriage is the most difficult of all human relationships and that it requires work. They have worked through problems and are committed to keeping their marriage covenant of faithfulness.

Our mentors will use a series of five simple questionnaires to provide direction in covering major areas of marriage.
