Refereeing is a ministry position. A referee represents the highest level of authority on the field. Referees are responsible for knowing the rules that are unique to and are charged with being a teacher and a coach to help players better learn the game as it is played.
We understand that for most participants and their families, the difference between a good and bad sports league experience is the coach. The role of the coach is to uphold the Values of White River Sports. Their success is not determined by wins and losses, but how they convey the love of Christ to each participant. Coaches are to model the Circle of Affirmation. In the circle of affirmation, the coach avoids negative responses towards referees. This will help parents and players take the same approach.
Yes. It is very important for players to improve their skills. By calling all penalties and fouls, players can learn the game the right way. The referee acts as an extension to the coach by explaining all penalties and violations to each player.
