This summer, 90 high school students and leaders from WRCC attended the MOVE Conference presented by Christ In Youth. There they learned about and were challenged to take an interested in the persecuted church.
Persecution is a reality for nearly two hundred million Christians around the world. Daily, they risk their lives simply because they believe in Jesus. They could surrender, or convert, or quit but the love of Jesus is worth the sacrifice. For many of them, this road leads to death.
In July, our students were taken by MOVE on a journey around the world. From the jungles of Colombia to the war-torn streets of Baghdad, the movie, "LOVE COSTS EVERY THING" tells the real-life stories of Christians standing firm in the face of death.
Though persecution is severe, the faithful continue to rise. The church is advancing. God’s people are risking it all in the name of love. And it is worth it, because love costs every thing.
Congressman Frank R. Wolf (R-VA) has introduced a bi-partisan bill (HR 440) in Congress that calls on the Secretary of State to appoint a Special Envoy to Promote Religious Freedom of Religious Minorities in the Near East and South Central Asia. The Envoy would promise greater focus by the U.S. government in addressing the threats these dwindling indigenous religious communities in places like Egypt and Iraq face. Please write a letter to your state senators respectfully asking them you to urge the Secretary of State to appoint the Envoy and encourage these governments to respect religious freedom for all people. You can find the names and contact information for your senators to the right.
