How can I give?

Ways to Give
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." Malachi 3:10

Online Giving through CCB (Church Community Builder)

A one-time gift or a recurring donation is available through CCB. White River accepts cash (ACH transaction from the donor’s bank to our bank) or debit card.

You can quickly and securely access your personal giving records and print your own IRS compatible giving statement. Donations are possible thru ACH (checking account) and bank debit card via recurring or one-time gifts. It is quick and convenient to establish recurring gifts and consistency helps White River's finances remain stable and predictable. All transactions are managed by our Financial Team, which administrates seamless reporting and entry into our accounting system.

  • Where do I go to schedule a recurring gift?
Login to Church Community Builder and click the Give Button on the upper right. Select an option and set up your gifts on the appropriate schedule for your budget. You can choose to schedule a gift to be paid weekly, every two weeks, monthly, quarterly (once every three months) or annually. You can also give a one-time gift by setting the number of occurrences to '1.'
  • Why is using my checking account for donations better for my church?
When you allow your gift to be withdrawn directly from your checking account, the church is charged a transaction fee of 50 cents. When you use your credit/bank card, there is an additional fee of 3-5% of the amount given charged to the church. For every $1,000 given, this is an extra $30-$50 (vendor fees) that the church never receives. These could be used for Kingdom work!
  • Ready to Give online?
Thank you! Our tool for accepting online payment requires you to login to our online community, Church Community Builder. Please follow the instructions provided there.

Stocks and Mutual Funds
  • What is the benefit of a transfer of stocks or mutual funds to White River Christian Church?
The IRS still allows a notable tax break for individuals considering a charitable gift. Donors may deduct the full, fair market value of appreciated stocks and mutual funds held for more than one year and given to White River Christian Church, with no recognition of capital gains. That means that donors can maximize their donation and charitable deduction using an asset with a small cost basis.
    An example:
A supporter holds publicly traded stock with a fair market value of $10,000, which she originally bought for $4,000. If she sells the stock, she’ll owe taxes on $6,000 of capital gains in the account. If she contributes the stock to White River Christian Church, she will be able to claim a charitable income tax deduction for the full $10,000 and not owe taxes on the gain since she didn’t personally sell the stock. By using stock instead of cash, she has delivered $10,000 to White River Christian Church and secured a tax deduction in the same amount, while avoiding a large taxable gain.
  • How do I transfer stocks to White River Christian Church?
The transfer process is very simple and will take little effort on your part. Have your broker contact WRCC’s Finance Director at (317) 773-2233 (ext. 112) to arrange the transfer to White River Christian Church’s brokerage account. Your charitable deduction will be valued as of the date the securities reach the church account and an IN-KIND Donation receipt will be provided to you for tax purposes. In practice, the church will not hold on to the securities but sell them after the notification of the transfer.
Real Estate
  • What is the benefit of transferring appreciated real estate to the White River Christian Church?
The IRS allows a notable tax break for individuals considering a charitable gift. Donors may deduct the full, fair market value of appreciated real estate held for more than one year and given to White River Christian Church, with no recognition of capital gains. That means that donors can maximize their donation and charitable deduction using an asset with a small cost basis. Contact WRCC's Finance Director at (317) 773-2233 (ext. 112) for more information.
Retirement Accounts – Current Gift
  • Why should I consider giving retirement assets?
You may take structured withdrawals from your plan beginning at age 59 ½ or age 70 ½ and make them payable to White River Christian Church. This will generate an offsetting charitable deduction.
The IRS has made available another provision for individuals age 70 ½ or older. If you fit this category, you can give up to $100,000 from your IRA to a public charity such as White River Christian Church and not have it counted as a taxable income to you personally. Please consult your accountant and WRCC's Finance Director at (317) 773-2233 (ext. 112) for more information.
Retirement Accounts – Estate Gift
  • Why should I consider giving retirement assets?
Because of the way retirement plans are taxed, at your death, relatively little of the assets in the plan may end up in the hands of family members or beneficiaries. These assets not only are included in your gross estate for federal estate tax purposes, but are also taxed when received by the beneficiaries as income.
Retirement plan assets are among the most tax-burdened assets you own. If you die before you have taken most of the distributions from your IRA, 401(k), Keogh, SEP or other qualified retirement plan, the balance remaining in your plan can be subject to confiscatory taxes that can claim a large percentage of its value.
Funding a charitable gift to White River Christian Church with these assets generates an estate tax charitable deduction. Further, WRCC will not pay income tax on the assets when they are received. So, using planned retirement assets for a gift to White River Christian Church can be beneficial to all.
  • How do I give retirement assets?
The simplest way is to name WRCC as the beneficiary of your plan leaving your less-tax burdensome assets to your family members. Simply fill out a “Change of Beneficiary Form” provided by your plan administrator. If your spouse is living, we recommend naming them as the primary beneficiary of the account if they will need those assets in their lifetime. You can then name White River Christian Church as the contingent beneficiary in the case your spouse is no longer living at the time of your passing. Since such gift intentions are technically irrevocable, no immediate charitable deduction is allowed, but your estate will receive a deduction at your death.
