Five ways to describe her: Bookworm, people-pleaser, analytical, random (sometimes she forgets to explain how her train of thought gets from point A to point B), happy. A day doesn’t go by that she isn’t reminded how very blessed she is! Tell us about her: Micayla grew up in Nebraska. She met her husband Dave in high school and they were married in 2005. She loves taking pictures, but that doesn’t mean she’s all that great at it. She also likes to bake, but is not that great at cooking. She likes playing games and hanging out with her husband, Dave. She loves traveling and is usually planning at least one vacation. History/ education: Micayla has a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from Kansas State University, but she hasn’t used Spanish since then so she is a bit rusty at times. Where did we find her: Micayla and Dave were invited to White River by Brian and Stacy Hansen. Brian and Dave worked at the same company at the time. In a previous life: Micayla worked in first the registrar’s office and then financial aid for ITT Online. Creative background: Micayla is usually working on several crafty projects, from digital scrapbooking to playing with her new sewing machine. She wouldn’t call herself naturally creative, but she finds that like anything, the more you practice being creative, the better you get. Salvation experience: Micayla grew up going to church, but never realized the true weight of what she’d heard all her life until high school. A medical description of what Christ’s crucifixion experience would have been like really touched her heart. Her Family: Micayla is married to her best friend, Dave, and loves spending time with him. Besides their other hobbies, they are usually watching the Discovery Channel. Her favorite role: She thinks her husband is fabulous and just loves being his wife! What makes her laugh: Preschoolers - they’re old enough to talk but haven’t yet learned what not to say! It’s the most precious thing in the world! What makes her cry: Sappy songs, love songs or songs about soldiers What she loves: Animals of almost all kinds (well, at least the furry ones, not a big fan of snakes), Coldstone Ice Cream, her two ferrets: Frank and Major, music. What she hates: tomatoes, fish Why she wanted to work at WRCC: She is excited by the idea of doing something every day that made an eternal difference! What it’s like working at WRCC: “A box of chocolates…you never know what you’re going to get.” There is so much more going on around here during the week than you would ever guess! The best thing about working at WRCC: You have the best co-workers in the world. You get to see all the volunteers who work so hard around here to show people how much God loves them, and they serve purely out of love for people and love for God. She gets paid to do her very best to show God’s love to people. What she does at White River: Answers phones, greets people, schedules the use of the church building, orders supplies. Her inspiration: “Nature. I love being in the woods, in the mountains, near a lake, etc.” |
