Five ways to describe her: Height challenged, usually laughing or smiling, her shoes will always match her purse, she is happiest when around other people, she loves to entertain in her home.
Tell us about her: She is a mystery like all women! You will just have to meet her and make up your own mind.
What she cherishes: Tammy has been married to her husband Kevin since 1986. They have two children Courtney, born in 1987 and Erik, born in 1989. Her children love Jesus and are the best kids any parent could ask for. Courtney married the man of her dreams, Jesse James, in October 2006. He is Tammy's third child and a true blessing from God. They love to spend time together as a family. They have a sweet little 100 pound dog named Brandy. If you ever see her, don't tell her that she is big. She doesn't understand that concept.
One thing about her: She loves to laugh and have fun.
What makes her laugh: Anything that is funny or might be funny
What she loves: She loves to be warm - preferably on a beach.
What she hates: to be cold - ever.
What is her dream for the ministry? She dreams of a church that makes children jump out of bed on Sundays to come to. Where they know that Jesus will meet them at the door and they will learn about Him. She wants it to be the best hour of their week.
What inspires her? She is inspired by the love that our little ones have for Jesus. They understand what sin is and how much they need Jesus. Our children make it all easy to understand if we just listen to their hearts, because their hearts are full of Jesus.
Where she learned her stuff: God made her to be a mother and love children. She has been preparing to serve little children her whole life. Now that her children are older it is a blessing to be with other little ones as they grow to love Jesus.
The college years: She attended the University of Oregon and Clark College and studied fashion merchandising.
Where did we find her: The Kalstad family moved here in 2000 from Washington State. She had a children's ministry at her church in Spokane and God directed her to WRCC to continue the work here.
In a previous life: She was the human resource manager at a software developing company for five years. She worked at Nordstrom and decided that she missed her children too much and decided to stay home with them. While at home she started a daycare and loved on many children for 6 years.
What is her specialty? Loving people and helping them feel cared for.
What can you thank she and her teams for: They provide a safe place for our youngest ones here to learn about the love of Jesus.
What it's like working at WRCC: It's like working at Disney World. It is the best place in the world to be a family. She gets to share a wonderful vacation everyday with the people she cares most about.
What she does for WRCC: Read God's Word everyday, recruit volunteers, plan fun ways to teach about Jesus and the Bible, pray about each child that attends and the ones that don't, plan fun church events, get the rooms ready for our children.
Most likely to be when Divine inspiration hits: Ironing at home. She loves to think when she is taking something that is a wrinkled mess and make it fresh and new.
Hobbies: She loves to shop and get a great deal.
Secret Ambition: To plan parties and help people enjoy the life that God has provided them.
When she is not here: She is being a wife and mother!
What does she think about the church today? People are coming to meet Jesus here. She loves the energy that the newest family members are bringing in the front doors.
What is your best advice to aspiring pastors: Follow the Holy Spirit. God is with you all of the time. Slow down and listen to what our Great God is telling you. He only wants the best for you!
