Phil's Administrative Assistant – Amy Moore Send an email to Phil - pheller@wrcc.org Read Phil's blog at wrcc.typepad.com/philheller All about Phil: Phil is a fun-loving, passionate, relational, organized, and sometimes goofy guy. His son will tell you that "he's a great daddy!" He comes from a strong Christian family and came to Christ at age 12.
Family guy: When he's not here with his WRCC family, he's with his great wife, Christie, and 3 great kids, Jenna, Cade, and Kendyll, all under the age of 10. That's 2 girls and 1 boy, so he's used to being outnumbered.
What makes him laugh? His kids.
What makes him cry? There's not much that has made him cry, but he really tears up when cutting onions.
What he loves: Phil loves Mexican food and people, but not slow drivers who don't signal.
His pet peeve: Wasted time
Greatest fear: Being alone in the dark; Not being effective.
Random Facts: - He was once misidentified as a star from It's a Wonderful Life.
- He has played 4 instruments, not counting the xylophone or juice harp.
- He's visited 30 out of the 50 states and been to 10 different countries.
His dreams for the future: Phil's dream for his Ministry is to help connect believers to other believers to mature in faith and to reach the non-believers in our community. His goals for the future are to be a great husband and father and build a strong team of staff & volunteers. He is inspired by great leaders and his father. He's happy to be a Pastor because Phil says that if he wasn't a pastor, he'd "be dead." Other places his talents have taken him: Phil has been there and done that in Mexico, Poland, Canada, Tanzania, Kenya, and Ethiopia doing mission work.
By the book: You may have read his name in a work entitled Idiots Guide to Tax Preparation... but he's never been published other than in his own emails.
Where we found him: We found Phil lollygagging in Louisville. He graduated from Kentucky Christian College (now a University) before being a student ministries guru in 2 mega-churches. He grew up in the river town of Maysville, Kentucky.
He stays on top of his Ministry by reading magazines with lots of pictures and steals good ideas from great leaders.
His gifts and talents: His specialty is leadership, administration, teaching, and serving. He's a people person! Phil likes to come in early, except when he's been up late cheering for UK Basketball! Coming in early helps him to stay ahead of the game, and so does spell-check. He really loves equipping & empowering leaders, and "giving it away." He's got 14 years of ministry experience in addition to being a PK (preacher's kid) in case you were wondering where he got his passion for discipleship and accountability.
Most likely to be when Divine inspiration hits: Phil is either in the shower and/or mowing the yard. The great thing is that he's never run over anyone with a mower yet!
Hobbies: His family, UK basketball, T.V., and music. What he thinks about the church today: Phil believes that churches today have the most opportunity to win the world for Christ than ever before, fueling his passion. His advice for aspiring pastors is to "get in, put your seat belt on, drive fast, and roll!" Phil's prayer for the people of WRCC: "This is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless unilt the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteosness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God."
