Seven ways to describe him: Love for the Lord, love for his wife, a friend to anyone, the movie Hoosiers, country music, sports and outdoor activities, pretzels and cheese.

Where he learned his stuff: Playing and being interested in sports his whole life. He graduated from Taylor University with Bachelors in Business and a minor in Youth Ministry in 2005. He has been a counselor at Kanakuk Sports Kamps, is High & Low Ropes Course certified, participated in youth ministry internships, lead short-term mission trips on Indian reservations, refereed and played all kinds of intramurals, and has served as a Youth Basketball coach. His most recent learning experience has been a year-long sports ministry internship in Louisville, Kentucky.

The woman in his life: His wife Shelby is a teacher at heart and a teacher by trade. She is the sweetest, funniest, most encouraging person you will ever meet. She is truly a blessing from God!

Family Guy: Brett is very much a family guy. His immediate and extended family mean very much to him. He was fortunate to marry into a strong Christian family as well.

His personal and work characteristics that are important to his job: He is very passionate about his ministry; this is what drives him. He is also very dedicated and committed to pleasing the Lord and serving the church. He loves to lead others but can follow great leadership as well. He is a hard worker, who doesn't do anything less than 100%. His mind thinks numbers, but his heart thinks people. He loves people and is very passionate about them coming to Christ and deepening their relationship.

What he loves: He loves his wife very much and loves spending time with her. He loves camping, hiking, fishing, and golfing. He loves The Office, Criminal Minds, and playing with his dog, Tucker. He loves North Carolina Basketball, Notre Dame Football, and the Indianapolis Colts.

What he does for WRCC: Brett is in charge of the sports and rec ministry at WRCC. He recruits and trains great volunteers to help him better equip the youth and adults that participate in sports and recreation. He finds creative ways to connect people to Jesus and one another.

His inspirations: The Word, seeing others come to Christ, and watching a believer’s faith deepen as he/she grows in their relationship with Christ.

Secret ambition: Learning to play guitar and writing a book

What do you think about the church today? "The church is more relevant to the non-believer than it probably ever has been, but it has a way to go. The church must continue to find creative ways to show them that Jesus loves them right where they are."
