Stu Shade | Elder

When it was obvious that a career on the PGA tour was not even a remote possibility, Stu pursued a career as an Architect. After spending the last 23 years in private practice, he has recently accepted the position of Director of Architecture with Mitsch Design; a “cutting edge” interior design firm in the Indianapolis area.

A little history on Stu: Having grown up all over Indiana, Stu graduated from Ball State University in 1979 with a B.S. in Environmental Design and a Bachelor of Architecture. Following graduation he moved to the North side of Indianapolis where he met and married Lynda in 1981. Together with their 2 girls Ashley and Taylor (and now son-in law Chris Chance), they have been long time members of White River; in fact Lynda is one of the few remaining original, charter members.

A Passion for: Stu is passionate about the local church and the potential that it has to positively influence our neighbors and also be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. He enjoys teaching and has a special interest in apologetics and eschatology (or at least he enjoys being able to spell them).

When he’s not at work or church: you can possibly find him at a golf course, a warm beach, or even a ski slope (in his younger days he liked to race). He also enjoys the opportunity to play his French horn and will watch any “science fiction” movie that features a giant animal.

A little known fact: Stu was a member of the 2-time world champion, Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps and recently had the opportunity to perform again with about 250 of his fellow alumni at the 2006 DCI World Championships.
