How you can KNOW you are going to Heaven

1. The Bible tells us that God loves people and created a good world where He and people lived in close relationship, but that people chose to go their own way (sin) and break fellowship with God.
   "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
2. The cost for sinning, rejecting God was and is great - Death.
   "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23a
3. However, God, because of His great love for us, sent Jesus to die in our place.
   "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans5:8
4. By paying our sin price, death, He became the one and only bridge back to God, to eternal life.
   "But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23b
5. The decision we need to make is to take that first step of faith to trust Jesus and receive Him into our heart.
   "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
   "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" John 1:12
6. The Bible teaches us that there are other choices that are to accompany our decision of faith.
   "Peter replied, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38
   "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen." II Peter 3:18
7. Upon choosing Christ, the Bible tells us that we now KNOW that we have eternal life and a place in heaven.
   "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." I John 5:13

You can get started in your new relationship with God through Jesus, by announcing your decision to trust Christ through a prayer like this:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the person You want me to be.
