God's Unfolding Story “But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power & tell people about me [Jesus] everywhere in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, & to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 At what point in world history was this verse fulfilled? As you dive into the Book of Acts you will quickly find out that the correct answer can be found in both biblical history & in modern times. God’s story began at creation & His love for us was solidified at the cross when Jesus died for the sins of all humanity. After the resurrection of Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit began to empower believers in the early church & this courageous band of Christ-followers preached, taught, & demonstrated God’s love in the synagogues, homes, market places, & even in the courtrooms. Wherever God sent the early Christ-followers; lives & history were changed Thankfully God’s story does not end there. We know this because of the abrupt ending at the conclusion of the Book of Acts. As the reader, we are left with a definite sense of incompleteness; as though Luke knew that chapter 29 of his historical account was yet to be written.
