Important Announcement, 2/22/2012:

Announcement on Measles Concerns & Response - We are OPEN FOR CHURCH THIS WEEKEND!

With the recent outbreak of measles in Hamilton County we are being proactive to help keep your family safe. We are taking every precaution possible to protect the health of our church community. Measles is easily spread from infected individuals to people who are not immune. Please take this opportunity to place the health of your family first.

We will be opening the Babies and Preschool Ministry for this weekend. Please understand that we cannot assure that we are a measles free facility. We recommend that any child that has not been immunized stay home for at least one more week.

Our facilities are completely safe and sanitized; this measure is due to the person-to-person nature of measles transmission. In other words, per the advisement of the Indiana Department of Health, we encourage participation only if you fit these criteria:

  1. You are fully immunized (one shot for adults, two for children) or otherwise immune from measles (e.g., from contracting it in the past)
  2. You are healthy and not pregnant
  3. You are older than age six

Becoming a Leader

As God continues to bring us new families, we want to be very intentional about continually creating small groups so we can help connect them to God and other believers. Small groups are the place where life change really has its best chance to happen and where we can learn to love and care for each other as Christ meant for us to do.

We need your help! As the need for more groups expands, we need individuals to step forward to host and lead these groups. Our small groups are different from the old "teacher" led small groups, and are based more on a model of fellowship and hosting. We will continue to start both kinds of groups, but a majority of our groups today are more organized by hosts than led by teachers.

Hosts:

You simply need to have the gift of hospitality, a TV and a VCR, or DVD player. If you can warmly open your home to 4-10 friends, have a few snacks and help keep discussion organized, then you can be a host. We have curriculum suggestions to take the fear of teaching away and will lead your group for you. You're simply responsible for creating the atmosphere.

Leaders:

If you've been in a group before or if you have some Bible teaching experience (Sunday school, etc.), we'd love to have you lead a group. We have groups that are ready to move beyond the video-led study and would love someone to prepare a lesson for them each week. (Keep in mind this setting is not designed for a pulpit or a lecture.) We have curriculum you can look through and find something that you'd be comfortable leading. We do ask that potential leaders to fill out an application and are interviewed before leading a group. This helps us match your teaching style to specific group needs.

Leader Coach:

If you're a veteran small group leader, your experience and willingness to help other small group leaders is vital for making our small groups ministry successful. Each month at our Small Group Leader Training, veterans of small groups provide insight, encouragement, and prayer for those currently leading a small group. Through visiting groups while they are meeting, coaches can help provide insight and helpful suggestions to equip the leader as he/she leads the group closer to God and each other.

If you're interested in hosting, leading a small group, or serving as a Leader Coach, please submit a small group leader registration or contact Keith Comp at 773-2233.
